Let’s assume that I am going on holiday and therefore I will need to get myself organised:
All my blogs will be written in advance;
I will go through the diary of my client(s) and see if there are any business trips to organise/book/purchase;
I will NOT put an out of office on my emails as I can check them from where I am and possibly reply. Also I don’t want to tell the world that I am going to be away!
Any stationery/ordering will have to be done in advance;
If telephone lines are transferred to me, I will have to source an answering service for the period (paid by me, not the client);
Basically it is thinking 2 weeks in advance instead of day by day. On the other hand, if your PA/VA is going on holiday, why don’t you contact Georgiana at email@example.com or on +44 7765 246124?
A police officer sees a man driving around with a pickup truck full of frogs. He pulls the guy over and says: “You can’t drive around with frogs in this town! Take them to the zoo immediately.”
The guy says OK, and drives away.
The next day, the officer sees the guy still driving around with the truck full of frogs, and they’re all wearing sun glasses. He pulls the guy over and demands: “I thought I told you to take these frogs to the zoo yesterday?”
The guy replies: “I did … today I’m taking them to the beach!”
If you are encountering a WordPress error message or white screen, don’t panic. Someone will have encountered the same message before and it can easily be solved.
But I didn’t know how to solve it! My web master had gone to pastures new and my host was not interested in helping.
Taking into consideration the fact that I did know absolutely nothing of WordPress, I tried first to find somebody else who could help me out and I drew a blank. The person that I was in touch with, showed an initial interest and then disappeared in thin air (I am still wearing that odd perfume obviously!). Then I came to the conclusion that – with the money that I was spending – my web hosts were not interested and that maybe I didn’t need a website. But the thought made me feel a bit “under dressed”, I therefore decided to give it a go and create one myself.
I firstly changed web hosts and the ones I went for, had been under my nose for a long time and proved to be a. cheaper and b. very good and patient! Who says that if you have a website you have to be an expert in constructing it? Anyway, they helped me a lot and virtusec.com was born again!
It still needs tweaking but it is up and running and I am happy again…
Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back.”
I have over 30 years of EA (Executive Assistant) experience and in 2000 I realised that it didn’t matter to my bosses if I was sitting at the desk or not, as soon as their work was being done, they were happy. I therefore started virtusec.com and since then I have worked in finance, education, manufacturing, legal and many others. My ideal environment is with a self-starter or a consultant, what I call a visionary executive, who works from home or an airport lounge, leading a team of up to 5 maximum. The turnover should be healthy and the geographic location does not matter as I am virtual. I work better under pressure and I perform at my best at moments of panic. In my “corporate” past, I used to be called The Rottweiler, because I would never let go, i.e. I always aim at accomplish the task at hand.
